Tríonóide Therapy Counselling Service Contract

Counselling Sessions:

Attendance at counselling sessions is voluntary and clients are free to engage for however many sessions they feel is necessary. This is done in conjunction with the therapist who can support the client to make decisions around this process. Eimear is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and is supervised in line with the guidelines recommended by the IACP. Eimear practices in line with the Code of Ethics and standards laid out by the IACP.

Counselling sessions in person are 60 minutes and are scheduled in advance. Appointments where possible are kept to the same time each week or fortnight.

Counselling sessions held via phone/Skype/WhatsApp are 45 minutes in duration and are scheduled in advance. Appointments where possible are kept to the same time each week or fortnight.

The first session is an intake whereby information is sought on the presenting difficulties and an exploration of the client’s goals and wishes for the therapy process is explored.

Confidentiality:

The counselling sessions are confidential, this is outlined in the initial session. Client information is kept confidential unless:

  1. A child protection concern/matter is discussed or disclosed
  2. You ask your Counsellor to break confidentiality because you consider that to be in your best interest.
  3. There is a risk of harm to you or to someone else. The Counsellor’s Duty of Care may require steps to be taken to minimise any danger. Where possible, a proposed course of action would usually be discussed with you first

Brief session notes will be kept in a secure location. Clients have the right to request these notes at any stage in the therapeutic process. Notes will be kept in line with data protection and GDPR compliance for a period of 3 years upon which they will then be destroyed.
